Fresh Ideas, Timeless Principles

Liberty

At the inception of our country, our founders focused on our Liberty as a key principle in the Declaration of Independence. Our rights are clearly identified as self evident, natural, endowed by the Creator. Government does not and cannot grant these innate rights, but it is there to protect them. Government exists by your consent.

Government can only grow at the expense of your personal liberty. A big government doesn’t believe that you know best; it wants to make choices for you. As it grows, it must take more of your hard-earned wealth and forces you to become increasingly dependent on it as your caretaker.

I believe in you. You know what is best for you. You know what is best for your family. I trust in your decisions about where you live, what kind of car you drive, where you put your money and how you care for your health.  I will fight for your personal liberty.

I pledge to the citizens of the State of Minnesota and to the American people, that as their elected representative I will work to: restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the interference of government in their lives; and observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them.
