The Minnesota constitution tasks our legislature with establishing a uniform system of education, yet a great disparity exists in per-pupil school funding between Mankato and metro-area schools. I will fight for our students who deserve equal treatment.

I support school choice. Parents know best what is right for their children. I will defend private schools and home schooling as an important part of our education system.

Families right here in Mankato have the highest hopes and dreams for their children.  School accountability belongs here with Mankato families. Measuring the quality of education is best done here in our community.  I oppose any federal initiative that usurps the right of our teachers and parents to determine what is best for our students.

The success of any child’s education is dependent on parental involvement.  To encourage this, we must return the power and responsibility of education to parents. Schools must be transparent in their budgeting, and they must be accountable first to parents and then to the state.
